Tone
an attitude of a writer toward a subject or an audience. Tone is generally conveyed through the choice of words or the viewpoint of a writer on a particular subject.

Choose an excerpt from one of the following literary works (links below examples). The link may lead to a lengthy excerpt, but you should choose one 2-3 paragraphs to use. First, identify the words and phrases that help portray the tone of the selection. Second, create an image around those words (and over the other words) that portrays the same tone. Somewhere in the margins write/sketch the tone word. Before beginning, check out the student examples below. You can create this digitally or draw it and take a picture (submit via edmodo).
